It's 2018! And it's time to revamp and refresh your Facebook ads for the new year.
In this post, I'd like to share 6 important tips to get awesome results from your Facebook ads. The Facebook algorithm is forever changing (mostly to improve things for everyone), but these tips should be helpful for you through 2018 and beyond.
Watch the video below for my 6 tips.
No time to watch a video? Here's a quick summary of the 6 tips.
Tip 1: Make sure that you have a strategy. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with your ads? Are you trying to reach more people with a great piece of content? Trying to sell an online course? Is your goal list building with a freebie? Make sure that you are clear on your goal and strategy with your ads before you spend ANY money on ads.
Tip 2: Do NOT spend your money on boosting posts. Learn how to go into Power Editor/Ads Manager and set up a proper ad. This gives you waaaaay more control over your budget, audience targeting and split testing. Also, don't bother to click that "Promote Your Page" button on your biz page. Your page will grow naturally by doing more effective, strategic ads like video views or list building campaigns.
Tip 3: Lead with value. If you dive into a sales ad with an audience who doesn't know you at all, you're not likely to have a success with Facebook ads. First, you need to warm people up to you, your style, and your energy. You can do this by promoting a great video, high-quality freebie, webinar or other free offer before you ask for the sale.
Tip 4: Make sure your Facebook pixel is installed on your website. The pixel is a chunk of code that you inject into the header of your site. Whether you're running ads right now or just planning for the future, install the pixel as soon as possible. You'll build your warm audiences of website traffic to use for future ads. Use the Facebook Pixel Helper extension for Google Chrome in order to check that it's working properly on your side.
Tip 5: Build your email list. I'm such a big fan of using Facebook ads to build your email list. Partly because this strategy incorporates tip 3. It's a great way to lead with value and build relationships with potential clients. With this strategy, you give your prospects a great freebie when they sign up for your list. Then you send them your best content over email to quickly build the know/like/trust factor. After all this great free value, they'll be much more interested in your offer and likely to buy.
Tip 6: Get some training before you start. Facebook ads are NOT intuitive. I was recently working with a coaching client who said she was experiencing a "steep learning curve" with FB ads. And that is totally normal. And this means that it is super easy to waste a bunch of time and money if you dive into ads with zero training.
So, if you're ready to put all of these tips into action, I invite you to check out my e-course Attract Your Tribe with Facebook Ads.
