Happy 2019! I’m so happy to be starting a new year.
2018 was a roller coaster for me. My personal life shifted and changed as I went through a breakup, health issues, moving back to my home state of Montana and living with my parents on their ranch for nearly 5 months. Not to mention buying and remodeling my first house.
And, as would be expected, my business also shifted in unexpected (and sometimes unwelcome) ways as my life changed. Turns out, it’s harder than I thought to run 2 online businesses with the ranch’s wildly unreliable internet connection. The struggle was real.
I’m finally ready to move into my new house in Lewistown, Montana. The house I’ve been working on for nearly 4 months. The house that has lightning fast internet and a spare bedroom that will be solely devoted to being my office!
So, what am I going to do with my business now that I will finally have time, space and reliable internet?
I’m going to set myself up for success so that life doesn’t throw me into such chaos again.
This year, my intention for my business and marketing is easy consistency.
And what does that look like?
It looks like writing a new blog post every week. But not waiting until 8:00 on Wednesday morning to write a post that’s supposed to be published at 9:00 on Wednesday morning.
It looks like sitting down and batching 5 blog posts, creating Pinterest graphics and scheduling emails once a month.
Ahhhh. Easy consistency. I feel lighter already.
I’ve chosen to focus on blogging + email newsletters because I can see that it makes a huge difference for my visibility, relationship-building and sales.
Plus, to me, it feels like the easiest way to be consistent. Because absolutely all of it can be scheduled ahead of time.
I also love doing Facebook lives but I’m not going to make them a huge priority right now. Because I absolutely do NOT love doing them at the same time every week. Some weeks I have my period and I feel like death. Some weeks I’m having major breakthroughs and I might want to do 2 videos in one week. So, I’m just going to let that flow when it feels right.
If it can’t be scheduled ahead of time, then I’m going to have a hard time being consistent. So those activities aren’t going to be my main marketing focus.
So, what’s your business/marketing resolution for 2019? I’d love to hear in the comments below.
