So, you go set up a Facebook ad.
You use a picture of your product or service and you write text that explains the details of your special promotion.
Great.
Then, here’s where the mistake comes in.
Inside Facebook ads manager, on the ad set tab, under the “Audience” section, you go in and use “Detailed Targeting”
If you’re a life coach, you target fans of Gabby Bernstein.
If you’re a business consultant, you target fans of Marie Forleo.
If you’re a Keto diet expert and blogger, you target people who are interested in Healthy Eating.
If you’re a parenting expert, you target Moms.
And this is your problem.
This is WRONG WRONG WRONG!
Why? Because 99% of the people who see your ad will have absolutely NO idea who you are!
And the likelihood that you’ll make an amazing amount of sales to people who have never seen or heard of you before is slim to none.
How to fix this Facebook ad mistake
When you are setting up an ad to sell something, do NOT use the “Detailed Targeting” field.
Instead, use the “Custom Audiences” field.
So, what are custom audiences?
These are audiences that you go and set up in the backend of Facebook Ads Manager. And these audiences are the people who already know you!
These are the people who you want to be sure are seeing your ad and know about your special promotion!
These are the people who have been following you for awhile and thinking about buying from you and when they see the special promo, they will jump at the chance to get a sweet deal!
